Chapter 26

The three stared at the ten-foot-high stone walls of the estate. It didn’t take long to find the location, but they watched from out in the forest to see if any patrols were moving about.

Over the last ten minutes, Nate has not encountered any. With torches illuminated throughout the premises, Nate proceeded toward the eastern wing of the estate. Among all the options, it proved to be the most accessible for infiltration. There was a conveniently located barn toward the rear, allowing them to move through covertly without detection. With magic, of course.

Nate observed the area to make sure no section had any wards or traps. It came as a surprise to him that there was no sign of the aforementioned anywhere. If it were his lands and estate, there would be traps and wards everywhere. It was probable that the man considered himself impervious to consequences due to his mother’s noble lineage.

Demonstrating his indifference, the young wizard casually shrugged and placed his hand on the stone walls, resulting in the immediate formation of a hole. This allowed him to crouch and proceed through the wall.

Nate gestured for the other two to do the same. Next, Nate called forth two types of creatures that had been residing in the recesses of his thoughts, deeming them highly valuable in this given circumstance: gulaans and rakshas.

The gulaans were creatures that had various features of different beasts. They had a canine form with a thick fur coat of shaggy black fur and a long body, reaching a height of five feet off the ground. The red coloration of their heads, feet, tails, and claws, along with their feline characteristics, distinguished them as skilled hunters. The only drawback was their gluttonous nature.

The creatures would engage in a banquet of flesh and entrails after their kills, leading to their bodies swelling and rendering them temporarily incapacitated for combat until digestion took place. Nevertheless, being summoned beasts, they were obligated to adhere to Nate’s instructions and refrain from such behavior.

Rakshas were shapeshifters that used magic and their true form was most commonly humanoid, with the head of a tiger and luxurious fur. Almost like the resident tiger man inside the estate. Although, Nate was uncertain if the tiger man could use magic or not.

He would use the four in front of him to counter any magic being used since they were adept at defense magic, but they were vulnerable to enchanted weapons. Particularly when fixated on a specific objective, they would become susceptible to being ambushed and attacked from behind.

Shaking off those thoughts, Nate looked over at his two companions. The duo was staring at the four rakshas and six gulaans.

“What is the problem?” Nate inquired, observing their stares.

“Uh, nothing, boss,” Rangolf answered after clearing his throat and focusing on him. “We’re just curious about the various types of beasts that you have the ability to summon.”

“Yeah, we were just interested,” Harald commented as he watched the gulaans growling at each other. The four rakshas were just standing there, looking at the manor.
